Rajvir
 Singh Deol a.k.a. Rajvir Boparai is the host and producer at Sarang Radio. He is widely appreciated for his content, voice and wittiness in Canada. He is a multi-talented person who has achieved success in field hockey, athletics, Bhangra, Radio jockey, Master of ceremony, comparing and entertainment sector. He has a unique way of hosting at Radio which collaborates the listeners and indulge them in discussions. 

Early life and family background:

Rajvir was born on 3 September 1977, at the village of Boparai Kalan, Punjab, to Sardar Charanjit Singh Deol and Sardarni Jaswinder Kaur Deol. His father is a retired Indian Army officer and mother is a retired head-teacher at Punjab Govt. School. His late grandfather, Sardar Gurbax Singh Deol, was highly respected in region of Punjab by many politicians, VIPs and natives for his social service and his 50+ years of teaching service.

Rajvir was a very bright student who was involved in multicultural activities from childhood. He used to participate in declamation, debate, poems(kavi) and Bhangra competitions in his school. He still remembers that he went on stage for the first-time in his fifth grade at school for Bhangra and poem competition. He graduated in Diploma from Guru Nanak Engineering College and Bachelors from Gurusar SudharCollege. During his college days he was an active member of field hockey and bhangra team. This made him won the college color in all his graduation years for his good grades and sports involvement.

Achievements:

Rajvir believes in ‘SKY IS THE LIMIT’ ideology and often accepts on radio that he is still a beginner in this field and works on ethics of continuous learning and improvement. He has achieved a lot of success which has resulted in huge listenership including youngsters and elders.

• Gold medalist for field hockey at intervarsity competition 1999, 2000 and 2001
• Best player in field hockey from Punjab 1999-2000 (P.I.T.S.)

• Performed Bhangra at Singapore in year 2003, organized by Singapore Sikh Education Foundation
• 3 times gold medalist at inter-district competition(Bhangra) – Sudhar School
• Comparer at Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar
• Writer for articles at popular newspapers like Punjabi Tribune
• Anchor for  LorhiDiwlaiVisakhi, New year mela at Punjabi Bhavan, Canada’s wonderland, Edmenton, Toronto, Brampton and Vancouver
• Judge at Bhangra competitions and Tringancompetition(held in 2019) 

 

Entertainment career:

Rajvir was one of the top performers in Bhangra in his graduation which caught Punjabi music video directors and producers attention. He was approached to work as lead/actor/dancer in Punjabi music videos and was appreciated for his work with many well-renowned singers like HarjitHarman, Surjit BindrakhiaSatwinder BittiBaaz Singh BaazSukhwinder SukhiInderjit NikkuBalvir BoparaiKulwinderDhillonRavinder Grewal, etc. Rajvir also acted as a lead actor in a highly successful theatre show ‘9.12.10’ played Rose Theatre, Brampton, Canada.

He was also seen in a prominent role of ‘Inqulaab Singh’, Asees’s brother in Asees movie(2018) directed by talented actor and director Rana Ranbir. He was appreciated for his acting skills and is approached by many Punjabi movie directors.

Radio career:

Rajvir made a big decision to move to Canada in 2005 to explore new career options and upgrade himself. His interest passion and inclination towards multimedia pushed him to start a 30 minute program, Dhola ve Dhola, at Sur Sagar TV in 2006 which was applauded by the listeners. With god’s grace and blessings he started Sarang Radio in October 2010 as 1 hour radio show at 770am on 1 day per week(weekend). With continuous appreciation and high listenership this show started broadcasting on weekends(2 days per week) in couple of months.

In December 2013, Rajvir jumped fulltime into the Radio broadcasting industry as show producer at 530am frequency. Sarang Radio was broadcasted from 2-3pm(prime-time) from Monday to Friday. On April 2019, Rajvir doubled the time of Sarang Rafio from 2-4pm, Monday to Friday at same frequency, 530am. His story narration which is broadcasted on Wednesdays is very popular in the Greater Toronto Area and has a huge audience.



At Sarang RadioRajvir has hosted and organized many parties, singing shows, stage dramas and Punjabi cultural shows. Few of the famous shows are listed below:
